MAX LEHMAN
Max Lehman is a ceramic sculptor based in northern New Mexico. Born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, he studied video production, installation, and performance art at Arizona State University. Max has called the Santa Fe area home for over 30 years. Lehman is known for his ability to seamlessly blend ancient traditions with contemporary forms. With a background in Media Arts and a deep fascination with Pre-Columbian art history, he has cultivated an appreciation for traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern artistic expressions. His sculptures fuse elements of Surrealism, Pop Art, and Pre-Columbian design, all viewed through the lens of contemporary digital and post-modern sensibilities. Each piece invites viewers into a playful, yet thought-provoking, exploration of perception, reality, and humor, blurring the boundaries of time and artistic genre. Through his work, Lehman fosters an ongoing dialogue between the past and present, offering a unique perspective on both. Lehman’s sculptures also delve into the interconnectedness of consciousness, hyper-dimensionality, string theory, and the mystical phenomenon of astral projection. This exploration reflects his deep curiosity about the nature of existence and the cosmos, inviting viewers to engage with the unknown and the unseen.
